We're having our first good harvest of strawberries. We planted a small strawberry patch a few years ago, and it always produced just enough for the birds. This year there are enough for everybody! There is NOTHING like eating a fresh-picked strawberry. The first bite wakes up your taste buds--the ones in the back--instantly with a burst of sour, then that delightful fragrance wafts up into your olfactory, followed by a sweet finale. Many of our berries end up on top of vanilla ice cream, which is the perfect way to showcase these beautiful, flavor-packed treasures of nature.
