The 4th of July is the day we became independent of England, though, to tell you the truth, it's hard to believe that England ever could have managed us. The flag is the symbol of the day. There is one on every flagpole and many printed on T-shirts. Dad raised the flag that was given to him when his father (a World War I veteran) died. You can see that it was a little windy, windy enough to bend the flag pole.
Most of the cousins on my dad's side of the family gathered at the lake, relaxed on lawn chairs, worked crossword puzzles, played with the kids, and ate pot luck dinner. It really was a peaceful day.
Jasper met his cousin Addy once before, but this year they were actually able to interact with each other. Buzz and Kelly supervised while Jasper and Addy threw small stones into the lake. Ahhhhh, summer!

Very nice, a perfect summer day. How fun to throw stones into the lake with a cousin.
