WHERE IS THE SUN???

Where is the sun? I saw it yesterday afternoon, and then it disappeared again. If you, too, are wondering where the sun is, you can look at our solar-system-on-a-platter. The sun is that big white cotton ball on a wooden star. All the big red puff balls are asteroids, which Jasper placed carefully in space. You can see that the planets were lined up--briefly--just before Jasper tipped the tray and the the rocket ship fell over. Oh, the destruction! Jasper remarked that the big red asteroids were BAD ASTEROIDS and needed a nap. So they're all in the spaceship right now, fast asleep. They should be better when they wake up.

This reminds me of my 6th-grade science fair project all about the stars in the sky. It was a spectacular piece of work. A hemisphere of styrofoam was the earth, and on it was a toothpick telescope. The sky was of black construction paper and had pin-point holes that, when backlit, showed the constellations in the night sky. My parents earned a blue ribbon for it.
