It was blue skies on a perfect summer evening. We were eating grilled salmon and popovers on the patio with Dad. Shortly after, clouds sped in, winds blew, hail fell, and it rained harder than I've ever seen before. After the storm passed, the neighbors met in the street to survey the damage. The street was completely blocked by a large part of our maple tree which has been shading this yard since 1954. (This yard became our yard in 1979.) Today we can hear chain saws and heavy equipment moving trees and branches. My little garden is a total loss. I hope the tree can be saved.![]() |
| The local news crew stood in front of our tree limb to report the storm damage. They were mainly interested in the house across the street that had a tree on the roof. |
