Tennants

I like to build birdhouses. This particular one is very tiny. Just an efficiency, really.  I'm always surprised when birds move in, and especially so because this birdhouse hangs just outside our front door. The bird family is disturbed every time we use the door, and the mailman is a daily irritant. Even so, a couple of times a year we hear the peeping of baby birds and see the parents flying back and forth with little bits of "protein."

Last week, either the little ones left home or they baked in the heat. (I choose to believe they flew away.) And boy, did they leave a mess. Apparently these birds shopped around for nesting materials. The blue striped strands are someone else's dental floss. Ewww!
