"North Shore" refers to the north coast of Lake Superior (the largest of the five Great Lakes) which spans from the southern tip of the lake all the way to Canada. The Brookman family makes a yearly expedition to a point on the lake that is only 60 miles from the Canadian border. We used to go there to celebrate Buzz's father's birthday. Since Bob's death, we continue to meet at the North Shore every spring. Buzz's mom, Ruthie, has good memories of hunting and fishing in the area when the kids were young.
You can't look at Lake Superior without pondering the way you fit into God's creation. The sky meets the lake at the horizon. The far side of the lake is two states away, in Michigan. The North Shore is grand, it is fresh, it is wild. There are thousands of square miles of forest with marked trails to hike. There are deer, moose, wolves, bears, beavers, and game birds. On this trip we saw a wolf and several deer.
The seagulls are a great source of entertainment. As we sat on the deck, the gulls lined up on the posts by the lakeshore and stared us down, hoping that we would feed them Cheetos. And we did! We always do. Buzz's sister, Nancy, tossed Cheetos into the air, and the gulls swooped to catch them. I chose to sit among the gulls and hand feed them.
Buzz and our son-in-law, Jim, modeled their Guatemalan T-shirts as they looked out over the lake and pondered how they fit into God's creation : ) And our daughter, Kelly, introduced Jasper to the beauty of the North Shore. There is so much more to tell you about the North Shore, but it will have to wait until another day.

Great photos! I have to say that it was hilarious to see the cheetos pop up into the air out the window as I was trying to put Jasper down for a nap upstairs!
Here's to many more years of fun up at the North Shore!
Sounds like a slice of heaven.
I love the photo of the bird in the top picture, it looks she was posing for the photo op. Love Jasper's big boy hoodie!
